The School of Energy and Environment (SEEN), University of Phayao (UP)held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on academic development, research, and academic services between UP and WAVE BCG Company Limited. The collaboration aims to support sustainable environmental management in teaching, research, training, and related development activities. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Torpong Kreetachat, the Dean of SEEN, signed the MOU as the authorized representative of the UP. As a witness to the signing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sukthai Pongpattanasiri, the Director of the Renewable Energy and Environmental Research center, also participated. The signing took place at the company's office in Bangkok on November 23, 2023. Mr. James Andrew Moore, the Chief Executive Officer, signed on behalf of WAVE BCG Company Limited, and Mr. Smith Leammanee, the Project Director of the Greenhouse Gas Operations Center, served as a witness to the signing.
At the same time, Mr. Smith Leammanee, the representative of WAVE BCG Company Limited, has provided carbon credit of 20 tCO2eq (a tons of carbon dioxide equivalent) to the SEEN. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Torpong Kreetachat agree to receive the credits on behalf of the SEEN for use in research projects aimed at elevating the management of tourism and collaborative development of the quality of national parks in the northern region, with a focus on promoting carbon-neutral tourism. This initiative receives research support from the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council, aimed at enhancing the country's competitiveness. The carbon credits will be utilized to offset carbon emissions from tourism activities in Doi Inthanon National Park.
