UP to host World Robot Olympiad 2023 : Connecting the World
Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, Ph.D.President, University of Phayao presided over the opening ceremony of the World Robot Olympiad 2023 along with Associate Professor Chayan Boonyarak, Ph.D.Dean, School of Science University administrators and lecturers also attended the competition at the Phayangammuang Auditorium, and offered encouragement to students alongside the president.
This remarkable event was co-hosted by the National Science Museum (NSM), GAMMACO (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and the University of Phayao on July 28-29, 2023, in the 2023 Northern Region Robotics Olympiad, with the goal of providing a platform for Thai youths to showcase their potential in robot design and programming, as well as inspiring creative initiatives to develop Thai youths’ potential for innovating the future in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 policy. The theme of the competition, titled ROBOMISSION, was “Connecting the World.”
400 participants in 98 teams from various provinces across Northern Thailand showcased their work. The competition was divided into 3 age groups: 33 teams for youths under 12 years, 23 teams for youths between 12 and 15, and 42 teams for youths between 16 and 19. Competitors were required to program and design robots to perform specific tasks in certain areas of the competition field. The winners of each age group will be eligible to participate in the national championship. This competition was held to find the best youth robot program design to compete in the World Robotics Olympiad in the Republic of Panama in November 2023.
