The Safety and Security, Division of Buildings and Facilities, has deployed a team equipped with machinery to carry out drainage pipe and channel dredging operations within the university from 22 April 2026 onwards, commencing with the dredging of the university's drainage channels surrounding the Wiang Phayao Building and the outdoor areas around the UP DORM residential buildings.
The operations cover surveying and assessing the condition of drainage systems, along with dredging accumulated sediment, soil, and waste, as well as removing grass, weeds, debris, and obstructions along the entire length of the drainage channels, in order to reduce blockages and enhance drainage efficiency.
In addition, inspections of drainage pipes and channels are conducted to ensure their proper condition, while the surrounding areas are tidied and restored to an orderly state, in preparation for heavy rainfall and to effectively manage stormwater volumes during the rainy season.
This is to prevent and reduce flooding, and to enhance the safety of students, personnel, and visitors using areas within the university.
