The School of Science, University of Phayao joined forces in the “Science Caravan and Science Volunteer, 3rd Edition" on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Ban Mae Na Ruea Tai School, Mueang District, Phayao Province. Students, school members, community leaders, the Lions Club of Phayao, and network partners from Singapore came together to drive the mission of "Wisdom for Community Strength" in a concrete and meaningful way.
In the morning, volunteer students from the School of Science, under the supervision of school lecturer from all departments, set up Active Learning science stations for primary school students. Every day, low-cost materials were used so that students and teachers could repeat the experiments and build on them at home or in the classroom. The activities were designed to bridge the educational gap between urban and rural areas, while also developing communication skills and a sense of social responsibility among the volunteer students.
“It's not just about teaching science — it's about nurturing curiosity and igniting a lifelong love of learning.”
In the afternoon, the Lions Club of Phayao and the Shan Zi Tan Foundation of the Republic of Singapore hosted the distribution of over 100 relief bags to students and vulnerable groups in the area. The opening ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitthisak Pinmongkhonkul, Dean of the School of Science. Ms. Tassanan Jaibun, President of the Mae Na Ruea Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and Mr. Chakrapong Tarama, Director of Ban Mae Na Ruea Tai School, gave welcome and thank-you speeches. Village headmen and local officials also joined the ceremony as honored guests.
This cross-border collaboration reflects that the power of education and goodwill knows no geographic boundaries, and that a university can truly serve as a bridge between local communities and the wider world.
The “Science Caravan and Science Volunteer, 3rd Edition" is a clear example of genuinely integrating the university's mission with community development. Importantly, this activity did not benefit only one side, it was a mutual growth for all: youth who were inspired, a community that was cared for, and students who developed themselves through real-world engagement.
The School of Science, University of Phayao is committed to continuing activities of this kind, so that science becomes a tool for strengthening society in every dimension.
