School of Engineering, University of Phayao, through students of the Civil Engineering program, has organized a community-based fundraising initiative to support a volunteer development camp under the project entitled “Hom-Haeng Volunteers, Hom-Poi Development” The activity will be conducted at Ban Khun Tuen School, Mae Long Subdistrict, Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province. The primary objective of the project is to enhance the school’s physical environment to ensure it is appropriate, safe, and conducive to learning for students living in remote and underserved areas.

This project exemplifies the role of civil engineering students as practitioners who apply engineering knowledge for societal benefit, while simultaneously fostering a strong sense of social responsibility and experiential learning. Such an approach aligns with the principles of constructive and meaningful learning, in which theoretical knowledge is integrated with real-world practice to promote holistic student development.

Throughout the implementation of the project, the students serve as a symbolic “bridge” connecting urban society with remote rural communities, transferring compassion, generosity, and public cooperation to areas with limited opportunities. The project welcomes donations of essential items for daily living, including snacks, milk, dried food, cleaning supplies such as brooms, and other necessary consumer goods.
