On June 20, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Ruksit Suttipong, the Dean of the School of Education, was assigned Assistant Professor Dr. Sunthon Khlai-Um, the Associate Dean for Administration and Student Quality Development, to participate in the Open UP 2025 activity “Sri Siam Ngam Si La, uniting faith to the University of Phayao.”, welcome the new students, 15th Fah Mui for the academic year 2025, which is an activity under the “Open UP 2025” project. The collaboration of the Student Organization, Student Council, Student Disciplinary Division, Wiang, and the Division of Student Affairs organized it at Sanguansermsri Building, the University of Phayao. It was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, who was the president to open the activity, along with the administrators and the University of Phayao’s personnel. This activity was organized with the objective to support students in beginning their university life with happiness, understanding, and respect for the diversity of a multicultural society. It corresponds with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which focuses on equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for living and working in a diverse world.

Moreover, promoting understanding and respect for differences is a key component of SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, which emphasizes the creation of an inclusive and equitable society for all. When students learn to live mindfully with others and embrace diversity, it lays a crucial foundation for building a society free from prejudice and discrimination.

This activity also reflects support for SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by nurturing students to become responsible citizens with a strong sense of social awareness. It aims to prepare them to apply their knowledge for the benefit of themselves, their communities, and the nation, ultimately contributing to the creation of a peaceful society with strong and resilient institutions in the future.

“Open UP 2025” was not only a welcome event for new students, but also an important first step in shaping them to be well-prepared both academically and in their attitudes toward living in a multicultural society. This foundation will empower them to become a driving force in advancing the country toward sustainable development.
