The University of Phayao Upholds the Annual "Tan Tod" Tradition in 2024.
The University of Phayao is dedicated to preserving the Northern Thai "Tan Tod" tradition, a ceremony that involves collecting essential items to assist those in need. This unique Lanna tradition holds great significance in Northern Thailand, and the university is committed to maintaining and honoring this local cultural heritage.
On October 22nd, 2024, the event was led by Associate Professor Dr. Direk Teeraputon, Vice President for University Communications, along with the Deans of the School of Public Health and School of Dentistry, the director of the Division of Student Affairs, the director of the Property Division, the director of the Division of General Affairs, staff from the Division of General Affairs and the University of Phayao Hospital, student clubs from the School of Political and Social Science, members of the Mae Ka Subdistrict Council, and the head of Moo 16, Mae Ka Subdistrict. This year's "Tan Tod" ceremony was honored by the presence of Phra Khru Phisit Sorrakarn, the presiding monk of Wat Pa Phra Ubalee, and Phra Khru Samuh Somphong Rattanachoto, acting abbot of Wat Pa Phra Ubalee, who participated in distributing essential supplies to residents of Mae Ka Moo 1, 2, 10, and 16. The event followed the annual Tak Bat Devorohana ceremony held at Wat Pa Phra Ubalee on October 18th, 2024, with the aim of promoting morality and good governance within the university and the Mae Ka community.
