As of August 29, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sittichai Phimonsree, chief, the Air Pollution and Climate Change Research Unit (APCC), School of Energy and Environment (SEEN), University of Phayao, orchestrated a gathering entitled "The 2nd Working Group on Climate Change in Chiang Rai Province." This event took place at the Montha Room,the Grand Room Hotel, located in Chiang Rai. The deputy governor of Chiang Rai, Mr. Somkiat Puka, who serves as the director of the Chiang Rai Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office, was designated to preside over the 2nd Meeting of the Working Group on Climate Change in Chiang Rai. In attendance were leaders from various government agencies and pertinent working groups.
During the meeting, the Head of APCC presented a comprehensive report on the calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Chiang Rai for the base year 2019. Additionally, future projections for GHG emissions up to 2030 were discussed, alongside deliberations on strategies to curtail GHG emissions within Chiang Rai. The session also touched upon the data collection process for assessing climate change impacts and associated risks in Chiang Rai Province. As of August 29, 2023.
