Engineering Enhances Students Skills through Training on Scientific Calculator Use for Effective Learning

The School of Engineering University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nuttanon Pongpanit, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Industrial Collaboration, organized a training activity entitled “Fundamentals of Scientific Calculator Use to Enhance Learning Efficiency” on 21 June 2026 at the School of Engineering Seminar Room, EN4406. The activity aimed to strengthen students’ knowledge, understanding, and fundamental skills in using scientific calculators among students from all four academic programmes within the School of Engineering.

The training focused on enabling students to use scientific calculators accurately and effectively. The content covered essential functions, including basic settings, equation solving, and frequently used functions in mathematics and physics courses. It also introduced practical calculation techniques designed to improve speed and accuracy in learning. Through this activity, students are expected to apply the acquired knowledge effectively to foundational engineering courses and related academic tasks.

The project was honoured to welcome Mr. Mongkol Nimnuan, Education and B2B Project Assistant Manager, Casio, as the guest speaker. He shared his expertise and practical guidance on the use of scientific calculators through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. This approach enabled students to gain a systematic understanding of various calculator functions and to select appropriate calculation tools according to the nature of academic problems encountered in their studies.

This activity formed part of the School of Engineering’s initiative to prepare students for their academic journey, particularly by developing essential foundational skills required for engineering education. Engineering studies rely significantly on mathematical and scientific knowledge, analytical thinking, and computational accuracy. Therefore, the training is expected to enhance students’ learning efficiency and support their readiness for future professional development in the field of engineering.
