The University of Phayao has been internationally recognized for its academic performance, having been ranked in four subject areas in the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings by Subject 2026. The results highlight the University’s strengths in teaching, research productivity, and collaboration at both national and international levels.

The THE Rankings by Subject 2026 assess universities worldwide across 11 academic disciplines—Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education Studies, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Medical and Health, Physical Sciences, Psychology, and Social Sciences—using internationally benchmarked performance indicators covering teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

According to the latest rankings, the University of Phayao achieved placements in four disciplines, reflecting its continued development as a research-oriented institution and its commitment to academic quality and innovation. The ranked disciplines and positions are as follows:

• Engineering: Ranked in the 1001–1250 global band and placed joint 9th nationally in Thailand
• Life Sciences: Ranked in the 1001+ global band and placed joint 12th nationally in Thailand
• Medical and Health: Ranked in the 1001+ global band and placed joint 9th nationally in Thailand
• Physical Sciences: Ranked in the 1001–1250 global band and placed joint 8th nationally in Thailand
