School of Allied Health Sciences, Showcases a Sustainable Elderly Health Model and Wins the “Gold Award” from the “One Faculty, One SDG”
    

The School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Phayao, has brought great institutional pride by receiving the Gold Award from the “One Faculty, One Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)” exhibition competition, held as part of the 15th Phayao Research Conference, under the theme “SDG Global Connect: Learning from Best Practices.”

 

On 27 January 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Puttipong  Poncumhak, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, together with the School’s executive team, faculty members, and innovation network partners from Mae Chai District, attended the opening ceremony of the “One Faculty, One SDG” exhibition and the exhibition titled “Phayao: A Model Community for Innovation toward Sustainable Development.” The event was held under the overarching theme “SDG Global Connect: Learning from Best Practices” at the 99th Anniversary Building of Phra Umali Khunupamachan, University of Phayao.

 

For the Fiscal Year 2025, the School of Allied Health Sciences presented its “One Faculty, One SDG” project entitled

“Health Care Management for Older Adults and Dependent Individuals to Promote Well-being and Prevent Dementia.”

The project was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ajchamon Thammachai and implemented at Mae Chai Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Phayao Province. This initiative was honored with the Gold Award, graciously presented by Prof. Emeritus Attapol Yaisawang, Chairperson of the University Council of the University of Phayao.

 

The awarded project emphasizes the development of health innovation aimed at promoting well-being and preventing dementia among older adults in Phayao Province, through the strategic framework of “Developing People, Building Systems, and Strengthening Partnerships.” The initiative includes specialized training programs for caregivers to enhance professional competencies and effectiveness in service delivery. The project adopts a holistic care approach encompassing five key dimensions: physical, psychological, social, environmental, and innovative dementia-prevention interventions, such as dual-task training and cognitive stimulation tools.

 

Project outcomes demonstrate measurable success, including improved memory performance scores among participants and strong cost-effectiveness, evidenced by clearly defined social return on investment (SROI) indicators. Moreover, the project serves as a model initiative that actively advances the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by strengthening a resilient and sustainable local health care system.

 

On the same occasion, the School of Allied Health Sciences was further honored at the Re-inventing University Learning Space Plaque Presentation Ceremony, held under the national program for enhancing excellence in higher education institutions and developing high-level human capital. The plaque was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpoe, President of the University of Phayao. In this regard, the School of Allied Health Sciences was entrusted with overseeing the learning space in Champawai Subdistrict, Mueang Phayao District, under the research project entitled

“Effects of Modified Foot-Stepping Exercise on Heart Rate Variability and Cardiorespiratory Fitness in Older Adults with Type 2 Diabetes: A Randomized Controlled Trial,” with Dr. Chonthicha Kaewjorhor serving as the project leader.

 

This achievement strongly reaffirms the pivotal role of the School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Phayao, as a leader in the integration of academic excellence, research, and health innovation. The School continues to drive the Sustainable Development Goals through concrete action, generating shared value for communities at both local and national levels, and contributing to sustainable and enduring societal advancement.
