On the morning of Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Dr. Poramate Sittisanti and Lecturer Pimsiri Suwannapat, academic advisors for 4th-year undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Science Program in Energy and Environmental Management, School of Energy and Environment (SEEN), University of Phayao (UP), led students on a field study at the Used Materials Management Station, Chiang Mai Municipality, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province. The purpose of the visit was to enhance students’ professional skills and provide hands-on experience in local-level energy and environmental management. The activity aimed to equip students with knowledge and inspiration to develop suitable innovations or practices that can be applied to community and societal development in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The group was warmly welcomed by Mr. Wisakha Panyachuay, Deputy Mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality, along with his team.

In the afternoon, the group visited the Lanna Rice Research Center at Chiang Mai University. The visit was honored by guest speakers Dr. Montri Sanwangsri and Dr. SUPAPORN YAMUANGMON, who gave lectures on research focused on improving the nutritional quality of rice, promoting the use of rice field residues, selecting rice varieties that reduce water usage and greenhouse gas emissions, and studying microorganisms that help lower methane emissions in rice fields. The visit also included a demonstration on collecting field data for greenhouse gas emission assessments in rice fields, aiming to instill a sense of environmental conservation and sustainability among the students and prepare them to be key contributors to the future development of the country.
