Demonstration School Students Engage in Tree Planting Initiative to Promote Sustainable Development
On June 29, 2025, students from the Demonstration School at the University of Phayao participated in a volunteer project focused on planting banana trees and various fruit-bearing plants. The initiative was spearheaded by the University of Phayao Volunteer Operations Center, operating under the Division of Student Affairs. The planting site, located beside the school, has been designated as a sustainable food source for the university community.
Volunteers planted banana trees along with a variety of vegetables, with the future harvest intended for use by students and for meal preparation in the university’s “Imjai” kitchen. This project directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 2: Zero Hunger and Goal 15: Life on Land.
Beyond environmental and food sustainability, the event aimed to instill a spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility in students, reinforcing their development as engaged and empathetic individuals. The activity drew over 300 participants, including university administrators, staff, students, and school pupils, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to community service and sustainable progress.
