University of Phayao Welcomes Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Chiang Mai to Strengthen Educational and Cultural Cooperation
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the University of Phayao, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, warmly welcomed Mr. Chen Haiping, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Chiang Mai, along with Ms. Gu Jingjing, Consul, and Mr. Zhang Yuheng, Secretary to the Consulate-General, on the occasion of their official visit to the university. The reception was held at the President’s Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Office of the President Building, University of Phayao.
Joining the welcome were members of the university’s executive team, including:
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkid Juwa, Dean of the School of Public Health
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Chittima Kaweera, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanintra Teeranon, Assistant to the President
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Anukool Manoton, Associate Dean for Strategy and Organizational Development, School of Public Health
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Supatra Yothinsirikul, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Arts in Chinese, School of Liberal Arts
• Miss Piyanuch Lonan, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, School of Public Health
• Ms. Wilailak Krudpan, Acting Director of the Division of Educational Services
During the visit, both parties engaged in discussions regarding academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and opportunities to jointly develop academic programs between the University of Phayao and institutions in the People's Republic of China.
Following the formal meeting, the Consulate-General delegation visited the School of Public Health, particularly the Traditional Chinese Medicine program, as well as the School of Liberal Arts to observe the Chinese Language program. These areas represent promising fields for future academic and cultural cooperation, aiming to enhance Chinese language learning and cultural understanding among University of Phayao students.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the ongoing relationship between the University of Phayao and the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Chiang Mai, paving the way for deeper cooperation in education, research, and student exchange programs in the future.
