School of Engineering University of Phayao, under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr.Nattapong Damrongwiriyanupap, Dean, and Associate Professor Dr. Preeda chaimahawan, Chair of the Civil Engineering Program and earthquake engineering expert, joined forces with faculty members, students, volunteer engineers, and personnel from the University's Building and Facilities Division to assess structural damage caused by the earthquake. The team carried out inspections at schools and educational institutions across eight districts in Phayao Province to evaluate the impact and present their findings to the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Committee.
The engineering team categorized the inspection results into three levels: green for buildings that are structurally safe, yellow for those with minor damage but still functional, and red for severely damaged structures that may be unsafe for use. The initial evaluation found that most buildings remained intact, showing only surface cracks. Sharing this assessment with the inspected schools aims to boost confidence among school personnel and support collaborative efforts in planning targeted structural repairs and improvements.
