On March 24, 2024, Assistant Professor Dr. Sunthon Khlai-Um, Vice Dean of Planning and Student Quality Development, along with Associate Professor Dr. Sombat Noparuk, expert, personals and the School of Education’s students participated in “the clothing parade tradition to cover Phra That Chom Thong, University of Phayao, in the year 2024” by Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao was the president of the event. The clothing parade tradition to cover Phra That Chom Thong is a project in cooperation between University of Phayao by the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Education, and the School of Political Science and Social Science, together with Wat Si Khom Kham, the royal monastery, Phayao Province, Phayao Municipality, Phayao Culture, Phayao Provincial Office of Buddhism, as well as government, and private sector organizations in Phayao Province, including people in 14 urban communities and communities around Wat Phra That Chom Thong and local government agencies of Phayao Province.
In the event, there was a procession of clothing covering the relics from the Phayao City Pillar Shrine area to Wat Si Khom Kham, the royal monastery, and the Phra That Chom Thong archaeological site. Along with dancing leading the procession in the costume "Panya Rueang Rong Muang Thong, University of Phayao" by students from the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Education, and the School of Political Science and Social Sciences. The objective is to drive the community to improve the quality of life of local people and continue the good cultural traditions following the mission of the University of Phayao in terms of preserving arts and culture that aim to inculcate good values in students and support students to have the opportunity to organize creative activities as the University of Phayao's aspirations "Wisdom for community strength" and vision "University creates wisdom for sustainable community innovation to reach the international level"
