School of Medical Sciences, University Phayao, Nutrition Program provide healthy diet to the elderly.
Nutrition and Dietetics Program, School of Medical Sciences, University of Phayao held academic services during February-March 2023 at Wat Mae Ka Tok Wak Senior School, Ban Tok Wak, Mae Ka Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phayao Province.
Nutrition and Dietetics Program, School of Medical Sciences, University of Phayao has a policy of teaching and learning that focuses on the learner and in order to increase the efficiency and quality of teaching and learning. Therefore, we have implemented the Community Nutrition Practice Program, which is a practical activity in the Community Nutrition program of third years students. The objective is to enable students to more gain knowledge, skills and experience outside their classroom. This year's Community Nutrition Workshop will be held four times, including a survey of community nutrition issues based on interviews with elderly at Mae Ka Tok Wak Geriatric School. Ban Tok Wak Mae Ka Subdistrict, Muang District, Phayao Province, which is an exchange of mutual learning between communities and educational institutions.
The next time will be an assessment of nutrition, food intake, etc. Organize educational activities or other activities related to solving nutritional problems in order to keep the elderly away from chronic non-communicable diseases and have sustainable well-being.
After 4 months of providing academic services to the elderly, it was found that the elderly and monks were interested in participating in the activities. Approximately 60 people received nutritional knowledge to protect themselves from malnutrition, including blood evaluation, which made them aware of sugar and fat disorders in the blood vessels, leading to prevention and self-treatment in the future. The nutrition and dietetics program will continue to provide academic services to the elderly in the coming years, both in the same area and in other areas according to the needs of the community.
