On 20 October 2026, the Bachelor of Engineering Programme in Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, organised the “Civil Engineering Project Seminar for Academic Year 2026” in Rooms EN4406, EN4306, and EN3204 at School of Engineering. The event was led by Dr. Palinee Sumitsawan, Project Director and attended by Associate Professor Dr. Somboon Shaingchin, Chair of the Civil Engineering Programme, alongside School members from the Civil Engineering discipline. The seminar aimed to enhance students’ learning experiences and develop their competencies in systematically planning and implementing civil engineering projects, while strengthening their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and academic presentation skills.
The seminar primarily focused on equipping fourth-year students with the essential knowledge and practical competencies required to undertake civil engineering projects effectively. Through interactive learning activities, knowledge exchange, and the application of theoretical principles to real-world engineering challenges, students were encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and adopt systematic approaches to engineering problem-solving. Academic staff provided expert guidance, constructive feedback, and professional recommendations to enhance the academic rigour, technical accuracy, and practical applicability of students’ projects, ensuring their potential for further development and implementation in professional engineering contexts.
The Civil Engineering Project Seminar represents an integral component of the programme’s commitment to developing students’ professional competencies by integrating engineering knowledge with practical skills. Particular emphasis was placed on systematic analytical thinking, engineering problem-solving, collaborative teamwork, and effective professional communication. The initiative aligns with the principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), which prioritises the achievement of clearly defined learning outcomes and the development of competencies relevant to professional practice. Ultimately, the seminar seeks to prepare students to become competent, knowledgeable, and professionally equipped civil engineers capable of responding effectively to the evolving demands of industry and society.
