On September 16, 2026, Assistant Professor Surisak  Prasarnpun, Ph.D.Dean, School of Medical Sciences, University of Phayao, presided over the opening of Asian Dietitian Day 2026, organized by the Nutrition and Dietetics Program, School of Medical Sciences, at the School’s activity area. Held under the theme “Leading Asia Towards Sustainable Health and Wellness,” the event aimed to share practical nutrition knowledge with university staff, students, and the public.

Good nutrition plays an important role at every stage of life, from children and school-age youth to teenagers, working adults, and older people. It is also important for people at risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Knowing how to choose food, read nutrition labels, and adjust food choices to fit individual needs can help people take better care of their health in everyday life.

The Nutrition and Dietetics Program prepares graduates with knowledge and practical skills in nutrition. Students learn how to assess nutritional status, plan suitable diets, and provide nutrition advice based on individual needs. The program also focuses on applying nutrition knowledge to health services and community development.

The event featured a discussion on “From Evidence to Change: The Role of Dietitians in Health Innovation for Sustainable Wellness,” along with nutrition information booths covering healthy eating, nutrition labels, and food exchange lists. Participants could also enjoy food demonstrations and tastings, body composition assessments, and individual nutrition consultations. The event highlighted the University of Phayao’s role in bringing nutrition knowledge into practical use for society.
