Students from the School of Business and Communication Arts and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Phayao, have demonstrated their potential in research and innovation at the national level, with Team QuitX winning the Second Runner-Up Award at the Research to Market: R2M#14 National Round 2026. The competition was held on 5 September 2026 at Regional Science Park 1, Northeastern Region, Khon Kaen Province. The achievement highlights the students’ ability to transform knowledge from research, technology, and innovation into product concepts and business opportunities that can generate benefits for society.
Team QuitX comprises Mr. Warinthorn Kornwech, a Digital Marketing student from the School of Business and Communication Arts; and Ms. Bussakorn Liksitthiphan, Mr. Rapee Thongthup, and Mr. Paphawin Chiwarat, students in Pharmaceutical Care from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The team was advised by Assistant Professor Dr. Ph.D. Mali-rak Attasinthong, lecturer in Pharmaceutical Care, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Ms. Teerathon Sangrai, Pharmacist, Professional Level, Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine. The team was also supported by mentors Mr. Wanikorn Buakaew and Ms. Nattamon Kwanjai from the Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer.
At the competition, Team QuitX presented “Mitrava,” a fast-disintegrating tablet developed for nicotine dependence treatment, featuring a dual mechanism of action targeting the brain and lungs. The team focused on translating research knowledge into the development of an innovative product and business concept, with the aim of creating value and social impact in line with the “Research to Market” concept, which emphasizes translating research outcomes into practical applications for the market and society.
The achievement came in a highly competitive national round featuring 22 finalist teams, selected from more than 125 teams competing in the regional rounds across 16 universities within the Regional Science Park network nationwide. The competition provided an opportunity for student teams to demonstrate the potential of research, technology, and innovation in forms that could be further developed for commercial applications and generate social impact.
Team QuitX’s Second Runner-Up Award at the national level reflects the potential of University of Phayao students to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge, particularly in digital marketing, pharmaceutical sciences, research, and innovation, to transform research outcomes into products and innovative business concepts that address societal needs and support practical applications.
