On 3 September 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, assigned Assistant Professor Dr. Tanyatip Kharuhayothin, Dean of the School of Business and Communication Arts (BCA), to preside over the opening ceremony of the “Indian Film Screening” event.** The Dean also extended a warm welcome to representatives from the Consulate of India in Chiang Mai. The event was held at the Film Screening Room, Learning Resources Center, Institute of Innovation and Learning, University of Phayao.
The activity was organized under the Internationalization Seminar Project for the 2026 fiscal year by the University of Phayao’s International Relations Unit, Division of Educational Services, in collaboration with the Consulate of India in Chiang Mai. It aimed to create an educational space beyond the classroom and provide students and staff with an opportunity to explore India’s social and cultural diversity through film.
Assistant Professor Dr. Narin Nonthamand, Assistant to the President of the University of Phayao, also joined the welcoming ceremony. The delegation from the Consulate of India in Chiang Mai was led by Mr. Pranav Ganesh, Consul of India, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Varuni Shukla; Mrs. Benchamat Somsiri, Local Consular Assistant; and Mr. Hetram, Secretary.
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Corporate Communication and International Mission, together with the Head of Academic Affairs and the School’s corporate communication staff, also attended the event and welcomed the delegation. Approximately 80 students and faculty members from the University of Phayao participated in the activity.
Before the screening, Mr. Pranav Ganesh introduced the background and development of Indian cinema, as well as the social and cultural contexts portrayed through film. His introduction helped participants gain a deeper understanding of the film and recognize cinema’s role as a medium that reflects people’s ways of life, ideas, and cultural identities.
The School of Business and Communication Arts’ participation in this activity reflects its commitment to promoting cross-cultural learning and broadening students’ perspectives. It also helps equip students with the ability to learn and communicate appropriately in culturally diverse environments—an essential competency for future business professionals and communication practitioners in an international context.
