The Student Affairs Unit of the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nuttanon Pongpanit, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Industrial Collaboration Development, organized the “Gear Lab: Student Leadership Development Program” for members of the Student Union, the Engineering Music Club, Engineering Photo UP Club, and the School Cheerleading Team. The program was held from 25–27 May 2026 at Seminar Room EN4406, School of Engineering, University of Phayao.
The initiative was designed to enhance the capabilities of student leaders by fostering volunteerism, strengthening leadership qualities, and equipping participants with the skills necessary for effective planning and management of student activities. The program also aimed to develop competencies in problem-solving, communication, and collaborative teamwork, all of which are essential for successful leadership in both academic and extracurricular settings.
Throughout the three-day program, participants engaged in a series of interactive workshops focusing on team-building, effective communication, interpersonal relationship development, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. In addition, the program provided valuable knowledge on health awareness and personal well-being to support students in managing and participating in university activities responsibly and sustainably.
The workshops were delivered by distinguished academic staff from various faculties across the University of Phayao, including:
- Assistant Professor Dr. Thanet Thongdetsri, Lecturer in Civil Engineering, School of Engineering
- Dr. Rujinan Euapitaksakul, Lecturer in Communication Management, School of Business Administration and Communication Arts
- Dr. Joompoth Sanitthangkul, Lecturer in Accounting, School of Business Administration and Communication Arts
- Assistant Professor Dr. Kanokkarn Phromnoi, Lecturer in Biochemistry, School of Medical Sciences
- Assistant Professor Jantima Choorassamee, Pharm.D., Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Care, School of Pharmacy
The Gear Lab Program represents another significant initiative undertaken by the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, to cultivate well-rounded student leaders who possess not only academic knowledge and practical skills but also the leadership attributes necessary to contribute meaningfully to the university community. By applying the knowledge and experiences gained through this program, participants will be better equipped to lead student organizations, implement creative and impactful activities, and strengthen collaborative networks. Ultimately, these efforts will contribute to the sustainable development of student organizations and the enhancement of students’ quality of life in the future.
