Monday, April 20, 2026 the Division of Buildings and Facilities, led by Assistant Professor Suwit Panyawong, Vice President for Environment and Landscape, Mr. Nattawut Somyaron, Assistant to the President, and Mr. Jeerawat Mun-ngan, Director of the Division of Buildings and Facilities, together with section heads and staff members of the Division of Buildings and Facilities, participated in the Pee Mai Mueang (Northern Thai New Year) Tradition Project of the University of Phayao for the year 2026 held at Phaya Ngam Mueang Auditorium.
On this occasion, the Division of Buildings and Facilities participated in the Sa Klao Dam Hua (Lanna-style ceremonial water-pouring) ceremony, paying respects to Associate Professor Dr. Suphakorn Pongsabangpho, President of the University of Phayao, and senior elders, in accordance with traditional Lanna ceremonial customs. This served as an expression of respect, gratitude, and the seeking of forgiveness at the occasion of the Northern Thai New Year, for the blessing and auspiciousness of both individuals and the organization. On the same occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Suphakorn Pongsabangpho, President of the University of Phayao, delivered words of guidance and blessings to personnel and students, to uplift their morale and bring auspiciousness to their lives.
In addition, the event included a ceremonial bathing of Phra Buddha Phuchkharak, the sacred Buddha image of the University of Phayao, and a ceremonial bathing of the royal statue of His Majesty King Naresuan the Great, for the purpose of auspiciousness. The event featured a Laab Mueang (Northern-style minced meat salad) cooking competition that created a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants, refreshment booths contributed by every division within the University of Phayao, and a Dam Hua procession competition in which each division elaborately arranged their processions, all in order to jointly perpetuate, preserve, and promote the beautiful Lanna arts and culture for generations to come.
This participation demonstrated the collective strength and cooperation of the Division of Buildings and Facilities staff members in perpetuating a cherished tradition, while also strengthening positive relationships within the organization, which will ultimately lead to the stable and sustainable development of the University of Phayao.
