School of Education participated in the Preservation of the Reclining Buddha Cloth-Draping Tradition, Wat Dong Phrachao, to Conserve Lanna Cultural Heritage
On January 5, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Ruksit Suttipong, the Dean of the School of Education, assigned Assistant Professor Dr. Sunthon Khlai-Um, the Associate Dean for Administration and Student Quality Development, to participate in the “Reclining Buddha Cloth-Draping Tradition at Wat Dong Phrachao, Mae Ka Subdistrict, Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province, Thailand. On this occasion, Dr. Wuthichai Chairinkam, Vice President for Student Quality, was honored to preside over the cloth-offering ceremony to Phra Muni Si Wisutthikhun (the Reclining Buddha of Wat Dong Phrachao). The activity was conducted in accordance with traditional Lanna cultural customs and was attended by university executives, staff, lecturers, student volunteers, and local residents. The participating in this activity reflects the role of the University of Phayao as a higher education institution committed to the preservation and promotion of arts and culture, alongside its engagement in sustainable community and social development. This was achieved through the integration of the University’s knowledge base, resources, and networks with community strengths, with the shared objective of sustaining local cultural values and identities. The activity is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
