University of Phayao Demonstration School Implements “Transforming DeSUP English Education” Initiative to Strengthen English Instruction

On July 5, 2025, the Demonstration School under the University of Phayao launched the Transforming DeSUP English Education initiative, held at M2 Hotel Waterside in Phayao Province. The initiative is designed to elevate the quality of English language instruction and enhance the professional expertise of English teachers.

The program consisted of two main components:

1. Identifying Essential Skills to Empower Students

2. Developing the English Curriculum

These activities aimed to empower teachers by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to deliver high-impact English lessons. The sessions also focused on fostering the creation of a dynamic and context-appropriate English curriculum for the school. A key outcome of the initiative was the formation of a Community of Practice (CoP) — a collaborative group of English educators committed to sharing expertise, learning from one another, and co-creating strategies to enhance English teaching practices.

The program was privileged to have Associate Professor Dr. Thipchan Wongchantta, Director of the Demonstration School, as the keynote speaker and workshop leader. She shared valuable perspectives on innovative methodologies and real-world implementation in English education.

A Community of Practice (CoP) is defined as a collective of individuals who engage in ongoing dialogue around a shared area of interest. Through knowledge exchange and collaborative problem-solving, CoPs contribute to continuous improvement in practice. In modern learning environments, CoPs are increasingly recognized as powerful tools for promoting teamwork, advancing skills, and supporting both individual and organizational growth.
