On January 17, 2025, at 9:00 AM, the School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Phayao, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chayanun Maneewan, Associate Dean for Administration and Organizational Development, organized the "5S & Big Cleaning Day" project. This initiative aligns with the faculty’s strategy for modern, transparent, and good governance management systems. The primary objectives of this project were to improve the workplace environment, enhance convenience and safety for staff, and promote sustainability in accordance with UI Green metrics.
The event commenced with a meeting of the Green Office Committee to review and establish strategies for fostering an eco-friendly organizational environment. Following this, participants engaged in the "5S" implementation, which included:
- Sort : Removing unnecessary items and waste from workspaces
- Set in Order: Organizing work areas to be neat, open, and safe
- Shine: Cleaning desks, side tables, filing cabinets, and office equipment
- Standardize: Inspecting and maintaining computer systems while properly organizing power cables and electrical outlets
- Sustain : Instilling habits of cleanliness and order in the workplace
This initiative not only enhanced the faculty's organizational image but also contributed to the well-being of its personnel, demonstrating the faculty’s commitment to aligning with international environmental management standards.
SPSS 5S Award 2025 Ceremony
During the event’s closing ceremony, the committee presented the "SPSS 5S Award 2025" to recognize outstanding individuals and departments that have demonstrated exemplary efforts in maintaining workplace organization and cleanliness. The awardees for this year included:

- Systematic arrangement and classification of items
- Elimination of unnecessary items and structured storage
Filing Cabinets & Storage Organization
- Categorization of documents and office supplies
- Convenient and safe placement for easy access
Computer Systems
- Readiness and functionality of equipment
- Proper arrangement of power cables and sockets for safety
Workstation Layout & Office Environment
- Design of an inspiring workspace
- Decorations reflecting a happy and productive workplace
The "5S & Big Cleaning Day" initiative plays a crucial role in improving the physical and environmental conditions of the organization, ensuring a well-organized, clean, and pleasant workplace. It aligns with global sustainability goals and is an integral part of the faculty’s strategic development. This project not only enhances workplace conditions but also raises awareness among staff regarding the significance of cleanliness and organization in the work environment.
