School of Liberal Arts Language Center Conducts
AI-Powered English Assessment to Evaluate CEFR Proficiency Levels
The School of Liberal Arts Language Center, University of Phayao, led by Dr. Chanapa Duangfai, Vice Dean for Special Affairs along with Language Center Committee, recently conducted an English proficiency assessment for students from the School of Business and Communication, School of Science, School of Medical Science, School of Engineering, School of Liberal Arts, and School of Architecture and Fine Arts. The assessment took place on November 22–23, 2025, and involved a total of 2,097 students.
The assessment utilized an AI-powered English testing system to evaluate students’ English skills according to the internationally recognized Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
This initiative is part of the ongoing development of general English courses at the university. The AI system measures multiple language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and generates detailed individual performance reports. In addition to the AI assessment, students gain access to personalized English learning programs designed to enhance their language proficiency effectively and address their individual learning needs.
