On October 16, 2026, The University of Phayao has organized a vision presentation as part of the selection process for its next president for the 2027–2031 term, under Fiscal Year 2027. Professor Samur Thanoi, Ph.D. is the sole candidate to have passed the selection process.
His vision focuses on three key strategies: developing a lifelong learning ecosystem for all ages, advancing research and innovation to international standards, and strengthening engagement with local communities. A key concept is “Glocalization”—developing graduates with strong local knowledge and expertise who can compete at the global level.
The proposed strategies aim to enhance academic excellence, promote impactful research and innovation, and create tangible benefits for local communities. The selection process will proceed in accordance with the University's established procedures.
