School of Business and Communication Arts Participates in UP Innovation Day 2026 Exhibition, Advancing Research towards Innovation-Based Entrepreneur

BCA

On 25 August 2026, the School of Business and Communication Arts, University of Phayao, participated in an exhibition at UP Innovation Day 2026, held under the theme of advancing research towards innovation-based entrepreneurship. The event took place at Phaya Ngam Muang Auditorium, University of Phayao, and was hosted by the University of Phayao Institute for Innovation and Technology Transfer (UPITI). The event aimed to showcase the University's research outputs, knowledge, technologies, and innovations, while promoting the practical application and further development of research outcomes to generate economic and social value.

At the exhibition, the School of Business and Communication Arts presented the project entitled “Development of an Integrated Specialty Coffee Learning Centre and Coffee Tourism in the Areas of Ban Pang Pu Lo, Pha Daeng, and Pa Miang, Mae Chai District, Phayao Province.” Assistant Professor Dr. Tanyatip Kharuhayothin Dean of the School of Business and Communication Arts, presented information and shared knowledge with exhibition visitors. The School also organised two coffee demonstration activities—drip coffee and capsule coffee—allowing participants to learn about and experience coffee products developed through the project.

The project aims to develop the area into a learning and knowledge transfer centre for technologies and innovations derived from specialty coffee research. Its scope encompasses the entire coffee value chain, from upstream production through processing to downstream markets. The initiative also promotes the practical application of research-based knowledge to enhance coffee quality and standards, create added value for products and local communities, and connect local resources and identities with the development of coffee tourism.

The implementation also places importance on designing tourism experiences that emphasise learning and visitor participation. It seeks to establish a specialty coffee ecosystem that connects the University, local communities, farmers, entrepreneurs, and network partners in order to support the sustainable creation of economic, social, and tourism value.

As part of its innovation development efforts, the School has planned three key innovations: 1) coffee processing innovations based on the Washed Process, Honey Process, and Natural Process; 2) Controlled Fermentation innovations; and 3) coffee roasting and temperature control innovations in accordance with international standards. These innovations are being implemented alongside the development of the Specialty Coffee Learning Centre, standardised coffee processing activities, coffee-related training, and the design of integrated coffee tourism routes.

Participation in the UP Innovation Day 2026 exhibition therefore represents another important platform for disseminating the research and innovation outcomes of the School of Business and Communication Arts to the public. It also helps strengthen connections between university knowledge, local communities, and the business sector, with the aim of enhancing coffee products, creating economic opportunities, and sustainably developing coffee tourism based on local resources and identities.
