Students from the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, have brought distinction to the University by winning First Runner-Up in the High-Performance Lightweight Concrete category at the 19th Higher Education Structural Lightweight Concrete Competition for the Royal Trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, or the 19th Structural Lightweight Concrete Competition.
The competition was held from 19–21 August 2026 at the Wang Klai Kangwon Campus of the Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, in collaboration with its Civil Engineering program. More than 18 higher education institutions from across Thailand participated in the national-level competition.
The competition was designed to assess participants’ competencies in the design and proportioning of lightweight concrete mixtures. Competitors were required to determine appropriate material proportions to produce concrete specimens capable of achieving high compressive strength while satisfying specified limitations on unit weight and slump. The competition therefore provided an opportunity for participants to integrate knowledge of engineering materials, concrete mix design, and civil engineering calculations into a practical engineering application.
The University of Phayao team, CoreMix, represented by Ms. Pirada Srichaloem, Ms. Chatchawan Nantee, Mr. Wasinbodin Phosi, and Mr. Sahachok Thao Panya, achieved First Runner-Up in the High-Performance Lightweight Concrete category.
The team was advised by Mr. Sangsarn Wongchai and Mr. Phratya Saenpaeng, lecturers in Civil Engineering, together with Mr. Nukun Panyala, a scientist in the Civil Engineering program.
