BCA Expands International CWIE Partnerships to Enhance Global Work-Integrated Learning Opportunities

BCA

The School of Business and Communication Arts (BCA), University of Phayao, continues to strengthen its international Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) network through strategic academic partnerships with leading institutions in China.

Dr. Piyapong Supanyo, Associate Dean for Research Innovation and Network Development, recently organized a preparatory orientation activity for students participating in the Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) Program. The initiative is part of an academic collaboration between the University of Phayao, Chongqing University of Technology (CQUT), and Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen).

Five fourth-year students from the Bachelor of Arts Program in Tourism and Hotel Management have been selected to participate in the program. They will undertake professional placements in internationally recognized hospitality establishments in Chongqing, People's Republic of China, including InterContinental Hotel, The Westin Hotel, and Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The students will complete two academic semesters of work-integrated learning, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world professional settings while developing industry-based projects in collaboration with their host organizations. The experience is expected to enhance their professional competencies, intercultural communication skills, and global employability.

This initiative reflects a key policy direction of the School of Business and Communication Arts and aligns with the vision of the World Association for Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (WACE). The program supports the principles outlined in the Global Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education Charter, signed by countries worldwide on August 5, 2019, to promote experiential learning and prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving global workforce.

Through this international CWIE program, the University of Phayao aims to provide students with equitable access to experiential learning opportunities while expanding international mobility and professional exchange. The initiative also reinforces the University's commitment to producing globally competent graduates who are ready to study, work, and thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
