Engineering Ignites Volunteer Spirit Among Students Creating a “Dust-Free Room” for Sustainable Well-being

Engineering Ignites Volunteer Spirit Among Students Creating a “Dust-Free Room” for Sustainable Well-being

On 20 March 2026, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, organized the activity entitled “FreshAir Volunteer Engineers UP: Dust-Free Room Initiative” at Kwan Gear Room, EN2 Building, with the active participation of student volunteers.

The initiative aimed to cultivate a strong sense of public consciousness among students and to encourage their active engagement in maintaining and improving the school’s internal environment through experiential, hands-on practices. These included cleaning, space enhancement, and the systematic organization of the area into a “dust-free room,” thereby elevating the quality of the learning environment to better support health and well-being.

Furthermore, the activity sought to raise awareness of preventive measures and mitigation strategies concerning fine particulate matter (PM2.5), a critical environmental issue with significant implications for public health. Student participation in this context represents an effective integration of academic learning with community service (service learning), fostering the development of knowledge, teamwork skills, and social responsibility in a balanced and holistic manner.

This initiative reflects the vital role of higher education institutions in producing graduates who not only possess strong academic competencies but also demonstrate a profound sense of social responsibility, with the capacity to apply their knowledge to generate sustainable benefits for society and the environment in the future.
