The University of Phayao has been awarded the Thailand Research Expo Award 2024 for their innovative project, "Mae Ing Shibori."
The University of Phayao was recently recognized at the National Research Expo 2024, which took place from August 26th to 30th, 2024 at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre CentralWorld in Bangkok. The prestigious honorable mention award was presented by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in recognition of the university's innovative project, "Mae Ing Shibori Model." This project, which falls under the Social Innovation Driving Unit (SID) for the Upper Northern Region 2, was spearheaded by Assistant Professor Dr. Kanlaya Jumpatong, a lecturer from the School of Science at the University of Phayao.
The “Mae Ing Shibori Model” project has further developed natural dyeing technology using the Shibori technique to enhance the quality of local textiles in the Upper Northern Region. This development was supported by the Knowledge Transfer Program on Natural Dyeing Technology from the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU A).
This work not only reflects the creation of important innovations for societal and community development but also demonstrates the University of Phayao's commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs and preserving cultural heritage through sustainable research and innovation.
