On July 10, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Direk Teeraphuthorn, Vice President of Communication Affairs, was assigned by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suphakorn Phongbangphoe, the President of University of Phayao, to be the representative of the University to join the Digital ID by TUC-CA Ready Award organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI). The event was held at Northeastern Science Park, Khonkaen University. The award is given to 114 organizations and higher educational institutes nationwide to certify their digital signature authorization under the Thai University Consortium or TUC.
As part of its policies, MHESI is encouraging its subordinate organizations to use electronic documents or e-document in place of paper internally. It is also promoting the use of electronic file storage and creation as well as a verified electronic signature which can prove and identify its ownership as stated in Section 9 and Section 26-31 of Electronic Transactions Acts, B.E. 2544 (2001) and its amendments.
In collaboration with Khonkaen MHESI developed an e-document system for universities’ faculties to be able to sign their documents using electronic signatures which have been verified through the Certification Authority system or CA. At the same time, TUC was also founded to pilot the system with 10 universities joining as pioneers.
