The school of business and communication arts (BCA) held an international seminar on the future of global business communication on 15 August 2022. The school’s vice dean of administration, Dr. Satit Chuayounan, gave a welcoming address to the guest speakers for the session. He pointed out that “effective communication is essential in business, and productive business communication can contribute to our success in today’s business world.”
This international seminar aims to exchange knowledge on essential social and communication skills in today’s business world and future trends and challenges for business communication. The seminar attendees comprised students, staff, and faculties. The guest speakers for this event are Professor Karen Chavanich and Assistant Professor Dr. Yupin Patarapongsant from Sasin School of Management, Chulalongkorn University.
Dr. Tanyatip Karuhayothin, a lecturer in marketing and the session’s moderator, introduced Professor Karen Chavanich. She has over 40 years of experience teaching communications, public relations, and organizational communication behavior at Chulalongkorn University. Professor Karen then talked about essential social and communication skills in today’s business world. She gave the attendees secrets on improving social communications skills and the necessary skills recruiters or employers are looking for when entering the job market. She also shared tips on a self-inventory checklist (i.e., a rubric for rating oneself on communication skills) with the audience.
Assistant Professor Dr. Yupin Patarapongsant shared the second session. She is an expert in marketing, branding communication, consumer behavior, and strategic pricing. She talked about local tourism strategy for global consumers and future business trends. The attendees got the chance to participate in the branding communication case study - the branding of Phayao. The contribution from the audience would give us a glimpse of consumers' perceptions of the second city – Phayao.
