Students from School of Information Communication and Technology and their alliance won the 1st place winner in the country in the competition of SpaceFIGHT2020 1st Payload Design 2020.

Students from School of Information Communication and Technology and their alliance from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang won the 1^st place winner in the country in the competition of SpaceFIGHT2020 1^st Payload Design 2020.  It is the first event in space of the University of Phayao team to touch the universe.

On June 28, 2021, The International Institute of Space Technology for Economic Development (INSTED), the organizer had announced the result of the 1^st Payload Design 2020 competition and the team of students from School of Information Communication and Technology, University of Phayao and their alliance from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang won 1^st place winner in the country. The team (named 7-UP) are consist of Asst. Prof. Dr.Thana Udomsripaiboon, Adviser, Mr.Thanathip Chompoowang, University of Phayao, Mr.Nattachai Saetern, University of Phayao, and Mr.Chootipun Chiaosuwan, Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. The 7-UP team's Payload specimens will be delivered to The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and delivered to the International Space Station for testing and actual work. This value is over 2,000,000 baht and the 7-UP team also receive a cash for 10,000 baht and award plaque.

This competition can be considered that it is the first step of University of Phayao to touch the universe.
