The School of Engineering University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Dr Anujit Phumiphan, Assistant Dean, together with School staff representatives, participated in the training programme, “UP Carbon Neutrality for Academic and Support Staff, Cohort 1” Organised by the University of Phayao’s Centre for Environmental and Sustainable Management, the programme was held from 10–11 August 2026 at Travelodge Nimman Hotel, Chiang Mai.
As part of the programme, participants undertook a study visit to the Integrated Biomass Management Centre and attended a special lecture on Chiang Mai University’s carbon-neutrality implementation strategies. The lecture was delivered by the Energy Research and Development Institute–Nakornping, Chiang Mai University. Participants also exchanged knowledge and perspectives on approaches to resource and energy management that support the reduction of organisational greenhouse-gas emissions.
The programme additionally featured lectures entitled “Analysis and Application of University Development Approaches towards Organisational Carbon Neutrality” and “Interdepartmental Collaboration for the Sustainable Development of Carbon Neutrality at the University of Phayao” These sessions were delivered by Dr Prus Pingmuanglek, Director of the Centre for Environmental and Sustainable Management. The discussions focused on strengthening understanding of the roles of individual departments and personnel in advancing the University’s environmental objectives, as well as integrating cross-unit collaboration to ensure that carbon-neutrality initiatives produce sustained and meaningful outcomes.
The School of Engineering’s participation in this programme reflects its firm commitment to fostering a sustainable organisation. It also demonstrates the School’s determination to apply expertise in engineering, technology, and resource management to mitigate environmental impacts, while contributing to the University of Phayao’s objective of becoming a sustainably carbon-neutral university by 2050
