Professor Samur Thanoi, Ph.D. Vice President for Research and Innovation, together with its research team, participated in APPTech EXPO 2026: Appropriate Technology for Community Development – Creating Community Innovators for Sustainable Local Economy, held on 4–5 August 2026 at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok.
The University showcased four research projects demonstrating the application of Appropriate Technology to strengthen community livelihoods and local economies. The projects focused on improving quality beef cattle production, enhancing Nile tilapia farming through systematic farm management, expanding commercial frog farming technologies, and promoting the Mae Ing Shibori natural dye innovation to increase the value of local textile products.
At the national competition, the University of Phayao received two prestigious awards. The Outstanding Research Award (Good Level) was presented to the project on applying technology throughout the quality beef cattle production chain, led by Associate Professor Dr. Payungsak Intawicha. The Pitching Award was awarded to the project on improving the productivity and income of Nile tilapia farmers in Phayao Province, presented by Dr. Warat Matthayomburut, Deputy Director of the University of Phayao Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer.
The achievement highlights the University of Phayao's commitment to transforming research into practical innovations that improve farmers' productivity, reduce production costs, increase household income, and strengthen sustainable grassroots economic development in Phayao and surrounding communities.
