The Environmental Business Development (EBD) Unit, Faculty of Energy and Environment, University of Phayao, continues to advance sustainable tourism by supporting Thai hotels in their transition towards Net Zero Hotels. Through environmental consultancy and management system development, EBD helps strengthen business competitiveness while promoting sustainable practices.
As a result, Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort has been selected to participate in the Green Productivity Model Hotel Development programme under the Resource Efficiency for Sustainable Hospitality project. Meanwhile, Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel & Resort has been recognised as an Ultimate Thailand Green Tourism Showcase 2026 winner in the Creativity & Innovation category by the Department of Tourism.
These achievements highlight the successful collaboration between academia and the private sector, with EBD serving as a trusted advisor in environmental management. The initiative supports Thai hotels in achieving Net Zero goals, advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and enhancing the global competitiveness of Thailand's hospitality industry.
This initiative is financially supported by the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness Enhancement (PMUC), whose funding plays a vital role in strengthening the competitiveness of Thai enterprises through innovation and sustainability, while accelerating the transition towards a low-carbon economy and green tourism development.
