The University of Phayao demonstrated its research and innovation capabilities at the 21st Thailand Research Expo 2026, held under the theme "Research Synergy: Empowering Research for Sustainable Thai Economy and Society."
Professor Samur Thanoi, Ph.D. Vice President for Research and Innovation, together with the University's research team, presented the University's outstanding research and innovation projects while participating in the national exhibition. During the event, the delegation also welcomed Professor Dr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, during his visit to the exhibition.
The 21st Thailand Research Expo 2026 was held from 22–26 June 2026 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, Bangkok. The event serves as Thailand's premier platform for showcasing research and innovation, promoting knowledge exchange, fostering research collaboration, and encouraging the practical application of research to support sustainable economic and social development.
This year, the University of Phayao presented three flagship research projects that highlight its commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation for sustainable community, social, and economic development:
- Enhancing the Freshwater Fish Cluster Supply Chain in Phayao to increase the economic value of the Northern Special Economic Corridor through sustainable Nile tilapia farming in Phayao and connected areas of Chiang Rai.
- Developing an Eco-Economic Value Chain through Sustainable Commercial Frog Farming Innovation to establish innovation-driven communities and strengthen Phayao as a regional food hub.
- Conservation and Value Creation of the Wild Siamese Fighting Fish, preserving Thailand's freshwater natural heritage while creating new opportunities for sustainable utilization.
Through its participation in Thailand Research Expo 2026, the University of Phayao reaffirmed its role as a leading research university dedicated to producing impactful innovations that address local needs, strengthen communities, and contribute to Thailand's sustainable development.
