Assistant Professor Dr. Nuttanon Pongpanit, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Industrial Collaboration, School of Engineering University of Phayao, participated in the “Workshop on Developing Skill-Oriented Curricula Aligned with the Needs of Employers and the Manufacturing Sector” under the New Generation Graduate and Competency-Based Workforce Development Program. The workshop was held on 29–30 May 2026 at Best Western Plus Wanda Grand Hotel, Nonthaburi Province, and was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).
The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and capabilities of School members from higher education institutions participating in the New Generation Graduate Program. It focused on enabling participants to design and develop curricula that emphasize learning outcomes, practical skills, and professional competencies required in real-world workplaces, while aligning with the current and future needs of employers and the industrial sector.
The event brought together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Tourism Council of Thailand, the Thai SME Confederation, and the Department of Skill Development. These organizations shared insights into workforce demands and essential industry-specific competencies, contributing to curriculum development across seven strategic clusters: Future Food and Agriculture, Green Energy, Future Mobility, National Security, Health, Wellness and Tourism, Smart Manufacturing, and Future Human Capital (5.0).
The workshop also featured distinguished experts from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, who delivered knowledge, perspectives, and practical experience in Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) design. In addition, participants exchanged best practices and innovative approaches to curriculum development aimed at addressing industrial needs effectively. The event attracted more than 170 participants from 55 higher education institutions nationwide.
Participation in this workshop reflects the School of Engineering, University of Phayao’s commitment to continuously enhancing its academic programs in response to the rapidly evolving world of work. Through the development of industry-responsive curricula, the School seeks to strengthen graduates’ competencies, enhance their employability, and equip them with the skills required to thrive in modern industries. Furthermore, these efforts contribute significantly to the development of a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting Thailand’s sustainable economic and social advancement.
