Civil Engineering Program, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, dispatched student representatives to participate in the “2026 National Creative Academic Structural Engineering Competition in Civil Engineering” competing for the Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The competition, held from 12–13 February 2026 at Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Salaya Campus, featured two categories: the 18th Popsicle Stick Structural Design Competition and the 10th Wood and Steel Structural Design Competition.
The results were a source of great pride for School of Engineering, University of Phayao, as the team secured First Prize in the 18th Popsicle Stick Structural Design Competition and was awarded the Royal Trophy bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The teams were closely supervised and mentored throughout the preparation process by Associate Professor Dr. Somboon Shaingchin, Chair of the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Civil Engineering, together with laboratory instructors from the Civil Engineering Program.

This achievement represents a significant milestone that reflects the effectiveness of the program’s pedagogical approach, which emphasizes the practical application of professional knowledge, the integration of structural analysis and design principles, and the development of higher-order competencies. These include analytical thinking, collaborative teamwork, and systematic engineering problem-solving—essential attributes for sustainable professional practice in the field of civil engineering.
