On 13 November 2025, the School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Phayao, held its annual Lanna Yi Peng celebration under the theme “Yi Peng Ratthapat Ruam Jai: Eternal Light of Thailand” at the School’s office, Phukamyao Building.
The ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montra Pongnil, Dean of the School, who led administrators, faculty members, staff, and student representatives from the School’s Student Union in the event.
The afternoon featured creative cultural activities reflecting Lanna wisdom and identity, including:
- Traditional lamp casting, symbolizing unity under the Queen Mother’s benevolence
- Lantern-making workshops, allowing participants to create handcrafted cultural items in an engaging and warm atmosphere
In the evening, participants gathered in silence to pay tribute before lighting the ceremony’s central lamps in “The Light of Loyalty: Eternal in Thailand”, followed by “Lanterns from the Heart: Sending Prayers to the Heavens”. The illuminated surroundings created a serene and memorable ambiance that deeply touched all attendees.
The event highlighted the School’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage while integrating community-centered innovation into its educational mission.
