On August 23, 2025, School of Engineering at the University of Phayao organized a seminar titled “RE100: The Pathway to Net Zero and Adaptation under Climate Legislation” The event took place at the School’s EN1104 conference room and was also streamed online, enabling School members, students, and the general public to participate.
The program aimed to enhance knowledge and understanding of global energy transitions and strategies for addressing climate change—issues that are increasingly critical on the international stage. Participants were encouraged to recognize the importance of achieving Net Zero Emissions through the adoption of renewable energy under the RE100 framework, a global initiative gaining significant traction among leading businesses worldwide. This initiative is expected to shape future business operations, strategic planning, and investment.
The seminar featured a keynote lecture by Dr. Pairoj Panukarn, Senior Director at Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited, who shared insights on several key topics, including:
• The current state of renewable energy development
• Mechanisms for achieving RE100 targets
• Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and Renewable Energy Certificates (REC)
• In-depth analysis of Thailand’s climate legislation
This seminar provided a vital platform to raise awareness and prepare Thailand’s business and industrial sectors for sustainable adaptation, while maintaining competitiveness in the global marketplace.
