On July 26, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Ruksit Suttipong, the Dean of the School of Education, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Sunthon Khlai-Um, the Associate Dean for Administration and Student Quality Development, along with the lecturers, the supporting staff, and the School of Education representatives, participated in “the 10th clothing parade tradition of Phra That Chom Thong Robe Procession” in 2025 at Phra That Chom Thong temple, Phayao. It was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, the President of the University of Phayao, was the president to opened the project. The traditional ceremony project of the Chom Thong Pagoda Cloth Procession this time is a joint celebration marking the 16th anniversary of the University of Phayao. It was a collaboration between the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Education, the School of Political Science and Social Sciences, the School of Architecture and Fine Arts, together with Phayao Province, Phayao Municipality, government agencies, private sectors, local authorities, and communities, corresponded with the university’s mission and follows the University of Phayao’s strategic plan in preserving arts and culture, enhancing identity, instilling values, and maintaining customs and traditions among staff and students. It was also conserved the ancient culture and traditions so that they continue to thrive in Phayao Province.
The event featured a procession of offerings and the beautiful cloth covering the pagoda, accompanied by the traditional dance performance titled “Panya Ruangrong Muang Thong, University of Phayao” by more than 100 students from the School of Liberal Arts, School of Political Science and Social Sciences, and the School of Education. The procession moved from the City Pillar Shrine in Phayao Province to Wat Si Khom Kham, the royal monastery, and the historic site of Phra That Chom Thong. This project was organized with the purpose of driving community development, improving the quality of life of local people, and preserving the valuable cultural traditions followed the university’s mission in nurturing arts and culture and aimed to instill good values in students. It also supports students by providing opportunities to engage in creative activities under the university’s motto, "Wisdom for the Strengthening of Communities," and its vision, "A University Creating Wisdom for Community Innovation Towards Sustainable Globalization." It was consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 11 : Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
