The Tide of Love

Pivotal to order, peace, and happiness is love, and love to the most profound sense of the word. The nationwide celebration of the Royal project of Bike Un Ai Rak beautifully manifests this humanitarian scheme.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun benignly had the Royal Initiative to organize the winter festival of the Un Ai Rak Khai Kharm Nao (Love and Warmth at the Winter’s End) in 2017 for the public to have fun with differing charitable activities that would alleviate the problems of the poor and the needy in His Kingdom.

University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Uthen Thatsaringkharnsakun, UP Vice President, graciously joined the public to celebrate the Un Ai Rak Khai Kharm Nao: Sai Nam Haeng Rattanakosin (Love and Warmth at the Winter’s End: The River of Rattanakosin) this year on December 9, 2018. Typical to the event is riding bicycles, thus the event is better known as Bike Un Ai Rak.  Following the tradition, thousands of people from all walks of life cheerfully united and biked with the governor of Phayao Province, Mr. Narongsak Osottanakorn, around the city for 29.9 kilometers.

The happy and smiling faces of the riders and those serving food and drinks along the riding path meaningfully made “the immaterial, material,” as Herman Melville has put it in his famous novel Moby Dick.  Such is the Rattanakosin tide of love that would bring forth the much sought-after order, peace, happiness to people throughout the Kingdom of Thailand.
